This tour takes place in the city of Rouen, the capital of Normandy.
Jewish Kingdom of Rouen
Rouen is less then 1 1/2 hours by train from Paris.
It is a very beautiful city, with a large historical city center.
Only since the last 50 years have historians discovered that Rouen had important Ashkenazi Jewish community in the Middle Ages. It was called the Jewish kingdom of Rouen and many stories and buildings were discovered.
Sublime House
Rouen has the oldest Jewish building in Europe called the Sublime House, a building you will learn all about on this exclusive tour.

Together you will walk to the city center which is only 10 minutes away and learn everything about the history of the Jews in Rouen that started 2000 years ago and had its Golden Age around the year 1200.

During WW II, 100-s of Normandy Jews were deported. in Rouen your guide will show you the “Stolpersteine”, the Stumbling blocks, that the German artist Gunter Demnig placed in Rouen.
You will learn about Jewish life than and now, as well as the global history of Rouen with the famous and tragic story of Joan of Arc.
